A study by McKinsey indicates that the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) could lead to a threefold rise in electricity consumption across Europe by 2030.

This finding was reported by itechua.com.

The increase is attributed to the growing demands on data centers (DCs), which are expected to require around 150 terawatt-hours by the end of the decade.

Experts highlight that AI will require a considerable expansion of energy infrastructure, outpacing all technologies developed in the last two decades. This poses significant challenges for Europe in meeting its carbon neutrality targets and lowering emissions.
